Nest Building Timelapse
One of the most captivating phases of our bird box journey has been watching our female blue tit construct her nest.
The Building Process
Over the course of several days, she made hundreds of trips carrying:
- Soft green moss for the base structure
- Fine grass and rootlets for weaving
- Feathers, hair, and wool for the cozy lining
The Timelapse
We compiled hours of footage into a stunning timelapse showing the transformation from empty box to completed nest.
[Timelapse video would be embedded here]
What We Learned
Watching the construction process taught us:
- Blue tits are meticulous architects, carefully arranging each piece of moss
- The nest cup is shaped by the female rotating her body and pressing down
- She tests the nest multiple times before being satisfied
- The entire process takes 5-10 days depending on weather and material availability
The Final Result
The finished nest is a work of art - a snug, cup-shaped structure perfectly sized for her eggs and future chicks.
This was just the beginning of an incredible journey! 🐦🏗️
